The VAGARA (Virginia Association of Government Archives and Records Administrators) Executive Board would like to invite you to attend the VAGARA 2010 Conference, November 3 - 5, 2010, Virginia Beach, Va.  The theme for this 26th Annual Conference is:



RECORDS IN CONTROL OR CHAOS?

"Get Smart" at VAGARA 2010

VAGARA is the premier resource for archival and records management in the commonwealth of Virginia.  This conference is the one to attend to learn about how to manage your public records (in all formats - electronic and paper) and to keep them in CONTROL!  A great opportunity for IT, legal, city and county clerks and of course records managers to network and learn about the issues of manage public records in the electronic world.

To help with budget constraints we are offering the option to register for the entire conference, or one-day attendance (Thursday or Friday).  Pre-Registration ends October 15th, so get your registration forms in ASAP.  Checkout the programs online at www.vagara.org<http://www.vagara.org>:

Thursday's programs include:

·        cloud computing

·        email management

·        e-discovery and records management

·        managing social networking sites as public records

·        using SharePoint to manage records.

·        exhibitor showcases of the new technology & services

·        networking session to share similar interests

Friday's ½ day workshops:

·        Archival Basics for Non-Archivists (part 1 - basic archival theory & part 2 - digital preservation)

·        Disaster Preparedness and Recovery (part 1 - planning and preparing & part 2 - what to do if ...)

The conference will be held at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center and we have secured a great rate ($109) for rooms that includes the Heavenly Bed and free internet (usually an extra charge).  This rate, including free internet in your room, is only good until October 6 - so make your reservations NOW!
