Soldiers & Sailors time capsule contents rotted, By Carl Prine
<mailto:[log in to unmask]> , PITTSBURGH TRIBUNE-REVIEW, Sunday, October
3, 2010
"The small copper chest had been fashioned out of the same waterproof
flashings used to line the roof. But officials quickly realized the lid
had never been soldered shut. Then they saw green oxidation running like
veins inside the box to the soggy lump at the bottom, signs that
moisture encased in the chest had savaged the fragile contents over the
decades."
