We recently viewed the video "Buried Alive" regarding record management
retention.  First of all, it is a great teaching tool and should be used for all
record management depts.  This video has opened my eyes about keeping old files
longer than needed and possibly eliminating the "Just in case" thought from my
mind.  Our instructor says that there is an inconsistency in the film and has to
do with the date of the film 1980's.  I am thinking that it is the use of the
bar code system to manage their file boxes placed in storage.  Does anyone know
if bar code systems were in use back in the 80's?  Also, were portable shredders
used in the 80s?
Mahalo for your input,
Hope
