I've read of instances where the mortgage holders basically called the 
bluff of the mortgage lender. Since their mortgages were bought and sold 
several times over, records got messy and in these instances, the mortgage 
lender could not actually foreclose since it didn't have the requisite 
documents.

I "heard" the same story about Chase, however, the second half of the 
Chase story
is sure, they have stopped foreclosures because they sold off the 
mortgages to 
allow someone else to do the foreclosing. Makes them look pretty good too, 
huh.

I know of a few Chase mortgage holders that were on their way to 
foreclosure when
they got the notice their mortgage had been sold.
