Policy Based Preservation Environments (iRODS)
  
This presentation features Reagan Moore, Mike Conway, and Arcot Rajasekar, NCAST Research Partners from the Data Intensive Cyber Environments (DICE) Group at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Renaissance Computing Institute and the Institute for Neural Computation at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Moore demonstrates several prototype tools that use the integrated Rule-Oriented Data System (iRODS) for linking and implementing a repository's preservation policies with record series and collections. File Format Identification Technologies
 
NCAST Research Partner, William Underwood gives a progress report on a promising technology for File Format Identification for use in NARA archival processes. Some of this research has now been incorporated into PRONOM at the National Archives of the UK. Dr. Underwood is Principle Investigator at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI). This presentation took place in the NCAST Research Laboratory at the National Archives in College Park, MD.
