In yesterday's New York Times someone had written in to an advice columnist
and asked what to do in the following situation. Apparently their manager had
directed/asked all of their employees to leverage their Facebook accounts for
telemarketing purposes such that friends and friends of friends would be
getting lots of telemarketing messages. The person writing in was not sure if
he wanted to subject friends some of whom were actually friends to this type
of intrustion. She or he also did not want to appear to be someone who was
not a team player.

The advice columnist suggested having more than one Facebook Page. This is
certainly a sensible approach.

The question that I am more interested in is what does this mean for
enterprise records management. One can pretty safely assume that the
scenario described is not an isolated instance but perhaps one that needs to
be addressed and perhaps monitored by the enterprise's social media policy.
