My point is that historians happy that people responsible for Records management did not destroy records according to retention periods because these people have also sense to history.
Very often the understanding of historic value comes later.

That's because records that are transferred to an Archive take on "historic" value - generally much longer than most business retention values. In addition, the function of transferring records to an Archive, transfers the "ownership" of the records to the Archive, where trained archivists apply archival acquisition and value procedures to the records.
