I had to LOL when I read your message, Ralph - really LOL!

From my perspective the two professions go hand in hand. After all, the
full life cycle of records and information ends not with destruction, but
with final disposition - which can be either destruction, or transfer to
an archives. And even before I became a CRM, I viewed my job as an
archivist as largely identifying records that could be destroyed (with
97-99% of the records being generated not worth retaining permanently).

As for how many of us are out there with both the CRM and the CA
credentials, there are more than you may suspect. Off the top of my head
I can think of a few names: Greg Hunter (Long Island University), Jac
Treanor (Archdiocese of Chicago), Mimi Dionne (Mimi Dionne Consulting),
and William LeFevre (Wayne State University). We're a relatively rare
breed, but not as endangered as you might suspect.

All
the Archivist I have ever known tlake dto themselves. What sort of a
conversation does a person with a CRM and a CA have with themselves. Do
you
embody YIN and Yang? How do you keep from spinning apart into the ether.
When the archival side of yourself digs in do you feel like slapping
yourself? This is facinating, How many others are out there like you. Do
you
have a secret club? Non-secret club. When the Records manager in you
disposes of records before the Archivist in you agrees, do you weep in
silence or yell at yourself. Have you ever turned yourself into auditing
for
suspicious behavior?

Inquiring minds want to know,

Ralph Better
