Aloha Listserv Friends and Colleagues:

E Komo Mai!! If you need a reason to come to the islands, here's your
chance. ARMA Hawaii Chapter has the remedy for Spring Fever and you'll
get to participate in one of the year's BEST RIM seminars:
------------------

Information Governance Summit 2011:
Indulge in Valuable RIM Information
with a Lawyer, a Doctor and a MS SharePoint Geek

The ARMA Hawaii Chapter presents the annual Information Governance
Summit on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Indulge in a myriad of topics
surrounding information governance with several information management
experts.

The lawyer: Session 1 features Randy Kahn and the 7 keys to information
management compliance. We will explore a wide array of electronic
information and records issues including recent courts' decisions
dealing with e-mail, destruction of evidence, security precautions,
development of record policies and procedures, imaged records and
disposition of originals, etc. Practical solutions to complex records
risk and legal issues will be addressed. This session goes beyond
Records Management basics to take the attendee through a comprehensive
overview of the latest issues in the field including electronic records
management, e-mail issues, and attorney-client privilege in the digital
age.

The MS SharePoint Geek: Our lunchtime speaker, Shawn Parker, a
Solutions Technician at Dell Computers, will get you pumped up with ways
Microsoft SharePoint's Record Center can be used to manage records.
It's a top to bottom review of what SharePoint 2010 offers for records
management including auto-routing, retention policies, security and
holds.

The doctor: In Session 2 Galina Datskovsky will provide the antidote for
poor records and information governance with a prescription for GARP.
Her energetic discussion on Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles
(GARP) use as a fundamental tool to assist your program will leave you
with a solid understanding of how GARP facilitates and sustains
day-to-day operations, supports predictive activities such as budgeting
and planning, assists in answering questions about past decisions and
activities, and demonstrates and documents compliance with applicable
laws, regulations, and standards.
