John Montaņa, referring to an excellent article posted to this List wrote "Those purported legal warnings an disclaimers at the bottom of email have no force or effect of any kind.  Anyone who thinks they're protecting anything by putting them there is kidding themselves."

Far be it from me to argue legal issues with Mr. Montaņa, but I have seen one e-mail footer I do like:  "Under the Texas Public Information Act most written communications to or from public employees are considered to be public records and will be made available to the public and the media upon request.  This e-mail and any direct reply may be subject to public disclosure."
