INFORMATION GOVERNANCE AND SECURITY: PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICE FOR INFORMATION
PROFESSIONALS
Northumbria University is offering a new distance learning module on
Information Governance and Security aimed at information managers, records
managers, IT and HR professionals.
In the wake of corporate governance scandals and security breaches, it is
now widely acknowledged that the effective management of information
governance and security has significant benefits to an organisation. This
expertise and knowledge has become widely appreciated and sought after by
employers and will be of use to a range of professionals. This module has
been developed to develop skills and expertise in designing and delivering
effective information governance systems and procedures. It:
- explores the information governance and security principles that
underpin the management of an organisation’s information systems
- looks in detail at information systems management architecture and
design, risk management, business continuity, and embedding information
governance and security within organisational culture
- examines key information governance principles, standards and
frameworks e.g. ISO 27001, ISO 15489, ISO 31100, BS 25999.
By the end of the module you will be able to evaluate current information
management systems and design and deliver robust information governance and
security programmes for an organisation.
Start dates and duration:
The module starts in September and February each year and lasts for four
months.
