Better email archiving needed, even at Google
A good email archiving system makes sure that email's unique
characteristics remain intact when the messages are stored. According to
ZDNet, a recent exchange in the Oracle versus Google lawsuit hinged on a
failure to do so. The email archiving system in place at Google does not
store drafts and final messages together, meaning that the drafts of a
confidential message were released to Oracle, a bad outcome for Google that
could have been avoided with a different system.
