LAST CALL!!

The RMS Project:
Providing Records Management as a Ubiquitous Service
Presented by Robert Spangler, NARA

http://www.eventbrite.com/event/5345019096

Time:  Networking – 6:00
PM, Dinner – 6:30 PM, Presentation – 7:30 PM

North Frederick Road (MD Hwy 355), Gaithersburg, MD 20879

Program:  Robert Spangler, Acting Director of
Electronic Records Processing at the National Archives and Records
Administration (NARA) will present on the Records Management Services (RMS) Initiative.

The RMS project is an effort to determine the viability of
building a software specification and associated tools through which RM
software could be implemented in a “services-oriented” model.  Software implemented through services can be
easier to build and deploy, more flexible, and often more efficient than
traditional software solutions.

It is of particular potential interest to NARA in light of
the Presidential Memorandum on Managing Government Records, recently released
by the White House.

Speaker: Mr.
Spangler is a senior IT Specialist at NARA, and has worked on large scale IT
support projects and related technologies in the Washington, DC area for more
than 30 years.  He has worked in this
capacity as a contractor and government employee, and in private industry, with
a particular focus on enterprise email systems.  Before joining NARA, his recent experience included 10 years managing
email and office systems at the Executive Office of the President and for
Citibank’s global financial and traditional messaging systems.  At NARA, he has been a major part of the
effort to process, preserve, and provide access to the wide variety of
electronic records generated in the Federal government, and to assist Federal
agencies in understanding how their records management solutions can work with
NARA’s requirements.

Mr. Spangler is a native of
Pittsburgh, and holds a BS degree in Information Systems and an MBA from the
University of Pittsburgh
