Dr. Eugenia Brumm, CRM, FAI Presents:
RIM Programs Impact E-Discovery
E-discovery poses unique information management issues that are exacerbated by poor RIM and information governance practices. Recognizing the impact that managing information has on the e-discovery process, the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) places information management at the front end, with a constant role throughout the processes. Providing an overview of the EDRM model key processes and steps, this session will discuss those elements of Information Governance and RIM Programs that impact discovery processes and improve defensibility.  With ISO 15489 and the GARP Principles as a backdrop, discussion will focus on those program components that have the greatest impact on e-discovery, with specific attention paid to identification, collection and defensible destruction.

Dr. Eugenia Brumm, CRM, FAI, recipient of the prestigious Emmett Leahy Award, has over 25 years of experience as a practitioner, academic and consultant, and is recognized as a leader and innovator, who develops creative, leading–edge records and information management solutions. She works for Huron Consulting Group as a Director in the Legal Consulting area, holds a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois, has written for numerous publications, has presented at scores of conferences and seminars, is a Fellow of ARMA International and has been honored with several professional awards, including two Britt Literary Awards and an Excellence in Teaching Award.

Joe VenturellaPresents:
Connecting the Dots between Records Management and eDiscovery
Preparing for litigation often requires a coordinated effort between multiple internal organizations.  Unfortunately, because litigation is reactive and confusing, it is often rushed and only the immediate needs of the litigation are considered.  During the course of this presentation, we will discuss those points where Records Management and eDiscovery cross paths, methods for resolving issues and how to define and measure the long-term, negative effects of abandoning key Records Management principles.

Joseph Venturella, Solutions Group - Advanced Discovery, brings more than 12 years’ experience in areas of data retention, preservation, collection and processing.  Prior to joining Advanced Discovery, Joe was the VP of Legal Services for Precise, Inc., an eDiscovery Service provider in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Prior to that, Joe was the National Director for Sales and Consulting for Evolver Legal Services.

From 2004 to 2005, Joe worked in Sales, Consulting and Operations for RenewData.  Before departing RenewData, Joe was the Senior Vice President for Legal Services.  In this role, he was responsible for developing effective solutions for clients for Electronically Stored Information (ESI).  Prior to joining RenewData, Joe was the Deputy CIO/Director of eDiscovery for Williams & Connolly LLP, a top-tier Washington, DC litigation firm.

Joe served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 to 2000. His final tour of duty landed him at Quantico, Virginia where he was trained in computer technologies and served as the Network Chief for the Marine Corps University.
