Subject: Re: The Obsolete Man and Open Record

You can't even imagine how ironic it is that the short Twilight Zone episode snippet is causing a few of you to reply to the post that you do not want to hear any political discussion. The video was about the suppression of books and contrary thought and the State's desire to rid themselves of books and records that might represent an opinion counter to the State's opinion.

Therefore there is no need for Librarians and Records Managers as there should be no records of any kind that could indict the state as the state is all powerful. Records are also obsolete. The State jury voted to make Librarians obsolete, since they previously voted to make books and records obsolete. They then scheduled the Librarian for execution since the State had no need for records, books and of course the Librarians. Ironic!!

That post was exactly on topic in a Listserve discussing records management. I find Peter to post on both sides of the discussion. But the open discussion we have here is about being able to provide point and counter point. Records have been newsworthy in every administration and records managers and archivists who stand up for the citizens right to know are the soldiers in the line of fire for the people's right to know.
