The Business Case for Social Collaboration and "Systems of Engagement"

Organizations struggle when it comes to effectively quantifying the savings
associated with collaboration, particularly in light of new "social
business" capabilities provided by the "systems of engagement". Building a
credible business case is essential to early qualification of project
viability before you commit resources to requirements gathering or system
design. It helps if you can quickly estimate even the order-of-magnitude
savings based on industry data. I'm going to give it a shot in this post.
