I am with Seattle Public Schools and we are scoping an electronic records compliance project. We are very interested in advanced enterprise classification capabilities integrated with manage-in-place retention policies. We have read online articles encouraging the use of predictive search to classify existing (and new) records and integrating those results with records management policies. But we haven't come across any organizations actively doing so.
If anyone is currently applying predictive search in their records management activities, we would love to hear from you. Or, if anyone has other creative solutions for a "behind the scenes" way to classify a large quantity of existing records and applying retention rules without affecting users (and we really mean without affecting users - no new system, no new process, no new client/side software), we would love to hear about it.
(We realize that with any auto-classification exercise we will need some knowledge worker assistance. What we are trying to avoid is a request for, or dependence upon, end user adoption, or the expectation that all documents will ultimately reside in a central repository.
