Hi Laurie,

We've been using the managed folder (i.e. "big bucket") approach for managing email for going on 3 years now, and are looking to duplicate that approach when we migrate to SharePoint 2013 later this year. Our users do exactly as you describe; they drag 'n drop email out of their Inbox into the appropriate managed folder (all personnel get 7 managed folders with their Outlook account). Email is purged [automatically] based on the retention requirement of the bucket it is in. The user has 120 days to do something with the email while it is in the Inbox before it is auto-deleted... same for most of the other folders outside of the managed folders.

Feel free to contact me off-list and I'll be glad to share with you. BTW, I just learned that MS Exchange 2013 will not support the managed folders concept--not sue why, but we're working on a work-around.

Just curious... anyone else planning to move to SP2013? I'd love to "talk shop" with anyone about managing records in SP2013.

Thanks.
Earl
