Presents an
EDRMS Educational Seminar

Monday, November 17 & Tuesday, November 18, 2014

9:00 – 4:30 pm
The Norwood Hotel, 112 Marion Street, Winnipeg, MB

Managing Electronic Records with Microsoft SharePoint®

Learn how to successfully implement large and complex Electronic Document
& Recordkeeping Management Systems (EDRMS) in this comprehensive and
interactive 2-day workshop delivered by Bruce Miller, best-selling author
and leading expert in electronic recordkeeping. Work through a detailed
12-Step EDRMS Methodology and use an EDRMS Project Modeling Tool to
facilitate successful implementation. Discover how to avoid common
implementation mistakes, overcome common barriers to user adoption, how to
produce a detailed EDRMS Project Plan, and produce a detailed project
Roadmap for stakeholders. This seminar applies to Microsoft SharePoint
2010 & 2013 as the EDRMS platform, however the core content is fully
applicable to any other EDRMS platform. Participants will be exposed to
the bolt-on solutions offered by third party software vendors Collabware,
Gimmal and RecordPoint.

This workshop is highly interactive. Work in teams with fellow attendees
to tackle real-life EDRMS challenges. Using a hypothetical 1000-person
organization as a working model, participants will gain insight into core
electronic recordkeeping concepts and principles. Participants are
assigned specific roles and engage in critical project discussions and
decisions. Participants walk through a hypothetical implementation project
featuring typical project roadblocks and problems that must be overcome.

Seminar Leader

Bruce Miller is a world-leading expert on electronic recordkeeping. He is
an independent consultant, an author, and an educator. Widely regarded as
the inventor of modern electronic recordkeeping software, he founded
Provenance Systems in 1989, where he pioneered ForeMost, the world’s first
commercial electronic recordkeeping software, now owned by EMC/Documentum
Corp. In 1997 he achieved the world’s first e-Records software
certification against the US DoD 5015.2 standard, and has since presided
over several successful 5015.2 certifications. He founded Tarian Software
in 1999, where he developed the world’s first e-Records software engine
for business software. That year he received ARMA Canada’s National
Capital Region’s Ted Ferrier Award of Excellence for his contribution to
the field of records management. Tarian was the first e-Records technology
in the world to be certified against the revised 5015.2 June 2002
standard. In November 2002 Tarian was acquired by IBM, where Mr. Miller
served for three years as IBM’s global e-Records Strategy and Business
Development Executive. At IBM he was honored as a Technical Leader, one of
only 439 out of 360,000 IBM employees. Mr. Miller is the recipient of the
prestigious 2003 Emmett Leahy Award, considered the highest international
recognition given to professionals in the field of information and records
management. ARMA International has published his popular book entitled “
Managing Records in Microsoft SharePoint 2010”. ARMA also hosts his
educational web-based training videos on EDRMS implementation and
Recordkeeping for SharePoint, available worldwide at www.arma.org. Bruce
holds a Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, and a Masters in
Business Administration from Queen’s University.
