The success of the ancient Israelites in defeating the Philistines under the leadership of Joshua (as in "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho") was largely due to their having brought out of Egypt the technology for and methods of using chariots in warfare.  Thus began enmity that continues today between the State of Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
