Machine learning excels at extracting information from structured and
unstructured data. In “How To Tell If Machine Learning Threatens Your Job”
I argued that machine learning can be a benefit if it allows you to shift
time from gathering information to doing something useful with the
information that you gathered. This positive view of machine
learning appears to be least likely to be true for jobs that mainly consist
of providing information for other people to use. Are information providers
a counterexample to the idea that machine learning is more of a benefit
than a threat?
