I thought this might be of some interest to everyone.

I use VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) service for my home telephone
service and one of the features has always been to forward a .WAV audio file
of my messages to my e-mail. I was surprised to find my vendor has take it
a step further in the last month.

As a temporarily free offering, I not only receive me the audio file, but
the text of the e-mail includes a complete transcription of the message and
so far it has been a highly accurate transcription. While it's interesting
to experience this, as a records manager I'm thinking how much more easily
discoverable material this could create within e-mail. I'm sure it's been
out in other places for a while and in businesses.

Don't forget that the voice mail you (or your fellow employees) leave today
might be a text transcribed e-mail a few moments later!

Of course, if you like to dictate documents, now you can just call home and
leave yourself a message J

Tom
