Northumbria University's Continued Communication Research Group (a group of 80 multidisciplinary international co-researchers) is investigating communications and their management in the 21st century.  One aspect that we are studying in detail is the place and value of emotion in text based communications. 

The following survey link is gathering information on the use of emotion and emoticons in online text based communications:
