In writing part six, the candidate needs to have a broad understanding of
all components of RIM. For me, I learned more by writing these components
myself. As you do this, you plant the knowledge in your head and it is
your words you are using, not someone else's. Here are the concepts which
I studied and wrote a paragraph or two for each one. When writing part
six, if you have these concepts firmly planted in your memory, they will
assist you in passing part six.

Here are the concepts which I used. The list is probably not complete,
but is what I remember.

Classification - Types and benefits of each
Records Inventory
Indexing
Records Retention
Active, semi-active and in-active records
On site storage - numeric, colour coded, shelving
Offsite storage
Imaging
Content Management Systems
Archiving
Vital Records
Reprographics
Micrographics
Forms Management

By the way, it was my mentor that originally put lists together and they
helped her as well.....however, she did not provide them to me.

Good luck on this, and remember as you write, to answer the question asked
and weave your RIM knowledge throughout..

Take care,

CRM Study Tips

Hi John- I am getting ready to take Part 6 on August 5th. I was wondering
if you would be willing to share the contents of you "printed cards on all
the major components of RIM. There are certain components of RIM that
will
be prevalent in each case study." I have not been able to connect with a
mentor and have been studying alone.
Thanks,
Lucy Rieger

I have just received my CRM. and the best way to learn how to write part
6 is to write case studies and have them graded. My first study I
concentrated on content and it took 10 hours to write. My next assignment

was to get those 10 pages down to four pages.....a task that was not as
easy as I thought it would be. Next, I had to write a single case study
in four hours. My final assignment was to simulate the test environment,
and write two case studies in four hours

I would suggest getting a mentor. My mentor was a CRM who marks exams, so

she was able to provide great comments on my case studies. She showed me
where I need to emphasize more or less and suggested having printed cards
on all the major components of RIM. There are certain components of RIM
that will be prevalent in each case study.

Hope this helps.
