I agree with Gary's comment.  We had to redefine some records in our retention schedule when we implemented the SAP Customer Information System.  The new system behaves similar to the AP/GL situation Vladamir describes.  We therefore established record types or series for the electronic data with more pertinent descriptions, and established retentions based on the business behavior of the data.
