I can see two different issues in this type of situation.
The first is what recourse do clients have if the new owner increases the costs to an extent unacceptable to the clients?
The second is also what recourse do clients have if the new owner changes the terms & conditions to a degree unacceptable to the clients?
I think we're back to "what does your contract say"?
