Once deployed within your company, SharePoint's popularity has the potential to become viral. This session will focus on how to apply a governance strategy against the SharePoint sites and objects, and how best to manage user expectations for leveraging SharePoint within your company. PPC will use real life examples and experience to deliver the lessons learned.

David Sanchez will discuss how the SharePoint and third-party tools are being used in both the US Air Force and other federal and commercial enterprises to deploy Governance.

We also look at how using Concept Searching's conceptClassifier for SharePoint and how you might automate much of the process designed to deliver a consistent user experience at retrieval time using taxonomy and automatic content tagging.

Furthermore we explore using the tool to apply your Governance strategy to identify and lock down sensitive information such as PII from being published on uncontrolled portals.

Sylvester Placid from Project Performance Corporation is an expert in information architecture, taxonomy design, and portal strategy for clients in the government, media, hospitality, and products industries.

Major David Sanchez is an Air Force Reserve Officer attached to the 711th Human Performance Wing as the Deputy Director of the USAF Human Performance Clearinghouse. In addition David serves on the Air Force SharePoint 2010 Working Group responsible for exploiting the SharePoint ECAL Suite Enterprise Agreement by driving the ability to leverage automatic metadata tagging capabilities and Managed Metadata Services to automatically apply SharePoint Security Services, Information Management Policy Settings, and Information Rights Management Policy Settings. In his civilian role David works with Concept Searching and a variety of Microsoft Gold Partners in their efforts to help customers deploy the SharePoint 2010 ECAL Suite to reduce costs associated with Information, Records, and Knowledge Management programs.
