Thank you so much for your prompt response to my request for expressions of
interest in teaching a course in the MARA program at SJSU.
The response was overwhelming and the resumes impressive. For now, I
believe we have enough expressions of interest to adequately staff courses
for the spring, summer, and fall of 2012.
One response was not for teaching but a recommendation for a guest speaker.
We have a MARA guest lecture series as part of our SLIS Colloquia. See
links to spring and summer speakers below. Those that are marked as MARA
guest lecturers are the ones I schedule. I try to do only 2-3 a semester and
1-2 in the summer:
Summer 2011

Spring 2011

If you are interested in volunteering to present to our students (no $ but
many thanks), please view the information about the MARA guest lecture
posted during the summer and listen to the webcast. You will see it is very
informal, about 20-25 students attend live, it is recorded and then turned
into a webcast for viewing by others.
We do welcome vendors but prefer the presentation to address a current
problem that can be solved with the product -- see the presentation by Merv
Richter of Eloquent Systems, Inc. in the fall of 2010:
http://slisweb.sjsu.edu/slis/colloquia/2010/colloquia10fa.htm
I'm still scheduling presenters for fall 2011, spring 2012 and summer 2012.
We currently use Elluminate, our web conferencing system. I would work with
you to be sure you are comfortable and prepared.
By the way, you are always welcome to attend the presentations as a
participant. If you see one you are interested in, just follow the
instructions on the colloquia page. See the fall offerings at
