John raises an excellent set of points here, and typically, archives have
this type of assessment as part of their "collections policies".  Granted,
these were accepted in 1963, and at that time someone may have been eager to
accept them (or anything dating back 60 years, for that matter) without
considering the potential risks.

Even if the decision is made (on this collection) to discard them rather
than expend the time reviewing the contents at length to determine if any of
the parties are still living, or if their estates may lay claim against the
materials being made public, care will need to be taken as to HOW they are
disposed of to ensure it happens securely and is done completely.
