This time I am looking for your feedback and return regarding the
scanning of invoices: is it worth it? What are your experiences?
Hi Gesa....
My experience has been that the capture software is well worth the ROI.
The OCR engine on this software is getting better all the time but the
error ratio is only as good as the following factors.
1) If the text runs through lines, the ratio drops significantly.
2) The size of the text - if too small the ratio again drops.
You would be best to do some testing on your own as my company would
have different results from yours. The savings are found when your
users do not have to key information in. However, they will have to
check the software's ability to render the text. As well, there is
considerable time involved in setting up the software.
If you haven't purchased the software yet and are trying to come up with
ROI, the vendor may allow you to use a demo copy and perform some tests
of your own. In my last company, we had an ROI of about two years.
