My current client, a US Federal Agency, keeps them for seven years.
NARA General Records Schedule 24, Item 7, Computer Security Incident
Handling, Reporting and Follow-up Records, says - Destroy/delete 3 years
after all necessary follow-up actions have been completed.

Subject: [RM] Event logs retention period
Hello All,
Is there anyone you deal with IT records. I need to find out what the
retention period for event logs.
I find several references on the net but not from a viable source.
Regards,
Michele
