Here's some current info on the future of the "Records Management in the Legal Environment." After much consideration, discussion and soul-searching over the past two years, Beth Chiaiese and I nailed down the format for the new book, which will not be a new edition but will be -- in the fashion of many legal treatises -- a supplement. We expect the book to be out of our hands and to ARMA for publication during 2013, which will make it a true ten-year supplement. We anticipate that ARMA will sell it both packaged with the book (for those who never bought the main text) and as a separate supplement (for those that already have the book). The supplement, which we don't think will be as weighty as the original but which is projected to contain about 15 chapters, focuses on what's changed most significantly over the past ten years and projects forward to the next ten. Major topics include the new information governance paradigm, ethical and legal foundations of law firm RIM, trends in department and personnel management, new business intake, risk issues (compliance, lawyer & matter mobility, information and data security and privacy, retention & disposition, legal holds), and technology. Thanks for asking!

I see Pilar chimed in while I was typing this (she's wicked smart - I recommend reading all of her posts) ... the "Blue Book" she linked to is
what those of us in private legal RM consider our "professional bible." Get it. You won't be disappointed. (NOTE: I think I recall a rumor that a
new edition is expected, but no idea when it is set to be released - you may want to check into that before you buy the first edition. Lee or Beth
... any update on the new edition??).
