If you are nearing your file size limitation for the PST file (see MS web
site for PST file size limitations), the PST file starts doing weird things
like losing track of emails and stopping any new downloads. You may have to
first select your top folder directory with your mouse/cursor. (Which should
be named Personal, Outlook Today, or something else - it's the directory
higher than your In Box and folders). Then right click on the item you have
selected to reach Data File Properties, then select Advanced, and then
Compact Now. (In OL 2010.) When Outlook does a compaction it
saves/compresses internal space and recreates its internal index. The lost
emails MAY reappear.

Also, If you are somehow hitting Shift/Delete, the emails will be completely
deleted and not appear in your deleted folder.

Make a backup copy of your PST file before you attempt this.

John

Subject: Outlook Issue-vanishing emails.

I am perusing through my outlook folder aptly titled Listserv. For each
email I highlight I can see my preview pane and quickly determine if I want
to read it or not. Every once in a while(and this just happened today), I
am reading a preview going to the next one and then decide to go back and
that email is gone. I mean not in my deleted folder, my sent mail or
anywhere. A search finds nothing. Very interesting how that happens. IS
there a key combination that I maybe accidently hitting that completely
erases that email from my outlook, even my deleted deleted folder. It was a
good post by Larry M to, forcing me to go to plan b, RECMGMT-L Archives.
Does that happen to anyone else? Just curious
