Question in return:  do "aviation authorities" have much in the way of very long-lived records? By "very long-lived" I mean in excess of 30 years.

You are a dear!  Thank you for your insight.

We are working our way to being more electronic, but IMHO, not everything has to be placed in the latest/greatest technology.  There will ALWAYS be a place for long-standing and proven microfilm.  :-)
