Good morning all,
Please allow me to introduce myself to the list. My name is Dan Elves
and I have recently taken on the position of FIPPA and Records Officer
at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. My background is in
Archival Studies but I have worked in other records management programs
as well. Our RIM program is just getting off the ground so I intend to
be a frequent patron of the list. I also hope to contribute to the
discussion as much as I am able.
I am requesting the list’s assistance in developing a business case for
our program. I would very much appreciate if list members could
communicate any metrics and figures they may have – from their own RIM
program or elsewhere – of: 
1)      General business efficiencies brought about by the creation of
a university or college RIM program; and
2)      Cost savings incurred by moving inactive records to low-cost
storage on campus or to off-site commercial vendors. 
I have found a few examples from JISC in the UK and one from the
University of Tennessee, Knoxville, but other examples would be most
welcome. If discretion is a concern, please feel free to contact me
off-list. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
