Are any law firms represented on the Listserv using Terrorists Watch List software? I'd be especially interested in hearing from firms that have international exposure, but I'm sure any responses would be interesting.


All US businesses are expected to screen for terrorists or terrorist related organizations. This includes businesses that you might not immediately consider, or which you might think that such a requirement could create an undue burden, but even car dealers and realtors are expected to comply. Fines can go from thousands of dollars to millions of dollars depending on the circumstances.

So far I've talked to a couple of mid-sized law firms, but they are US only firms and are only checking the US available SDN List, which you can do right on their web site, or if you have File Surf's conflicts module, you can enable SDN searching as part of your conflicts search.

I know of one large law firm in Boston that is using a highly sophisticated piece of software for this purpose.

We're looking at Attus software as a comprehensive, low cost solution, but we'd like to know what others are doing or considering
