I also work for a law firm. For us our paper-less initiative has resulted in us printing less, but that's not the real gain.  It is still easier to browse and make margin notes on actual paper. It is still easier, in most cases, to read and take with you a paper document, which needs no power source or compatible software. 

The real gain for us has been that we SAVE less paper, and less of it is going to off-site storage.  For example, we are sending to storage less that 50% of the paper we sent to off-site storage than we sent there 10 years ago.  We also recycle our paper more efficiently and diligently than we did 10 years ago.
