Some additions to Larry's very useful comments:

In case you need to use outside contractor -

-request for security check

-elevator - check with service provider and request, if you can, additional attention - in case the elevator stops accidentally, you need to have help immediately

- elevator - capacity and size

- boxes - Larry said about marking them and labelling them,
just in case you have "very" confidential or valuable records, ask for boxes with holes or other devise that allows to close,  lock, and seal the boxes.

- boxes - additional packing material to put inside the boxes

-content - weight of the content - in case you have glasses, video, Cd's and other records that their weight is more heavier than paper - check the size of the box and how you will stack them.
- If you move records inside the current "furniture", try to cover it to eliminate scratches, bumping,  and other esthetics's damage

- as Larry said, keep  truck of the movement of the car, may be coordinate the move with local transport authorities, and ...Meteorology service as well - you don't need to get additional moisture for your records.

In case your repository is registered with some "By-Law" enforcement authorities, don't forget to update them about relocation

Although you check and update finding aids during the move, take additional time after everything is done and re-check.

Forgot to tell, during the move, don't forget to check regularly the floor in your resent repository - just in case that some records were missing somehow and not found -  it is the good time to look after them under....the same situation  is good to check in case somebody lost jewelry one day:-)

Regards,
