A few years ago when my company started converting to SAP we reviewed all
the remaining data from the old transactional systems. We soon realized
that a lot of the space was being used by the "temporary" files that were
created during the transaction process but were not the same as the final
data sets. Through this process we learned there were several different
types of "records/information" - some were records and some were transitory
data that were not required for retention purposes.
