I can empathize with the internal challenges to achieve consensus on this issue. Have you reached out to any peer firms in your jurisdiction to see specifically what they are doing? I have spent my entire career working in law firms and have found that informing firm leadership about practices adopted by other firms can sometimes get their attention. IMHO, law firms like to be unique, but they prefer not to stand alone on issues such as this. Perhaps a quick survey of peer firms, along with relevant opinions, and information gleaned in Lee's book will help sway opinion. You may also want to take a look at any potential malpractice insurance requirements that are listed in the fine print. Hope this helps at least some!
