I try very hard to volunteer frequently as an exam grader because I feel that this is a good contribution to my profession. Someone out there graded my exam and gave me the thumbs up, so I like to think that I am paying this forward in appreciation that someone who took the time to look me over and find me worthy of the professional designation. I was thinking about the training for the graders that is being provided by the ICRM for 2014 (and I am 100% in favor of this requirement and really thrilled that the ICRM is making this move).

I am wondering...Does the ICRM ever review our work as graders and give constructive feedback on success factors to help graders improve their own performance as graders? Am I just way out there or is this the next step? Teachers have tests in Texas to ensure that they know what it is that they are teaching. I try hard to praise each candidate for what they did well and give constructive feedback in a positive manner if an answer does not give me what I need to award a high score, but how well do I really know what sort of impact I am making? Am I discouraging future efforts at certification for those that didn't make the grade or am I really helping unsuccessful candidates change direction for the better?

What should we, as graders, be prepared to do in an effort to certify the professionals that rely on us to affirm that they know what they should know? How can we help the ICRM build a faboo pool of graders to assure that we are delivering capable professionals to Corporate America?

Just a thought....
