Esteemed colleagues:
At a meeting yesterday, an attorney proclaimed that, "Metadata is not part of the record."
Under my breath, I exclaimed, "Oh, yes it is, at least for some metadata." However, before contradicting the JD (that's Doctor of Jurisprudence, not Juvenile Delinquent), I want to build my case.
I have collected what I could from The Principles, ISO 15489 and MoReq 2010. Are you aware of other authoritative sources or standards that I might cite to make the case that content without metadata is only a partial record?
I give you my great appreciation for the profound, collective wisdom of the ListServ!
