Chris, the question is ambiguous: do you mean in a productive manner?  
I'd say that using a plug-in cartridge for one of the Commodore 
computers to learn Morse code (way awesome game, by the way) was really 
the first, but I also used BASIC for the Commodore Vic 20 (followed by 
the 64 & 128).  Of course, those were along the lines of making 
butterflies flap across the screen, for 5th grade.  First actual 
programming would have had to be DOS & QBASIC.
