TN - Hendersonville struggles with public records policy confusion

Months after Hendersonville leaders passed an ordinance establishing
procedures for the inspection of public records, there is still confusion
about how charges are assessed and what information the public is privy to.

An open records ordinance passed by the city’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen
last fall imposes a labor charge for the staff time “reasonably necessary
to produce the requested records” for copies after the first hour. It also
prohibits citizens from using personal handheld devices such as iPhones to
make their own copies.
