Stability and consistency should be the goal. Fluctuations in temp and humidity are ok so long as it's slow and subtle. It's the rapid changes that are detrimental to paper based materials.

If you have certain media (eg film, optical disks, video/magnetic tape) these will not do well in heated rooms, even if mildly warm.

If you're not already measuring temp and humidity, you may want to invest a few hygrometers and thermometers and place them in different locations to monitor for changes. The NEDCC has good info on this sort of stuff.
