Good Tuesday evening colleagues. Recently I posted my opinion about
Information Governance ("IG"). I think I used a lipstick and a pig analogy
- I meant no offense to folks who are trying to further IG. I want to
state that I am not anti-IG, actually my title is IG manager and I
activated my Company's IG Council.
My minimalist rant was more about how some vendors and associations have
muddied the waters for RIM professionals - many RIM professionals are
confused. I am a believer in organizations defining their
strategic/tactical approaches as to how they want information to benefit
the company - what do you want from your informational assets.
Believe it or not...even large companies are still dealing with defining
what is a record, whose the office of record, what should be listed on the
record retention schedule.
I understand that IG is a comprehensive approach to the management of
information, and appreciate the efforts of people who promote it.
