I have found that, in general, everyone loathes graduate school regardless of what program you're in. Rough, hairy, dull work.
The only exciting classes I had in library school were classes in RIM & archives. I sympathize: I wasn't too keen on the "traditional" library classes either (except for classification and program management--I loved those).
And I sat through mine in a classroom. ;-)
Yes, a MLIS degree will place you ahead of other candidates, but it doesn't guarantee happiness in the workplace. And this is from someone who wasn't lucky enough to get a scholarship. :-)
