Dear Colleagues,

Fred Grevin is correct in advising anyone who scans documents in-house or
outsourcers the process to follow the intent and also the letter of the
details outlined in the ANSI/AIIM MS 44-1988 [REVISED 1993] titled
"Recommended Practice for Quality Control of Image Scanners".

I would be so bold to expand on Fred's advice to suggest that if you do not
follow this or some similar Standard to document the image process you can
forget paying a Lawyer, Attorney or whoever supports your organisation in a
court of law as you will get killed by the prosecuting party.

If the Judge or Prosecution Attorney asks and what standards are in use with
the imaging process at your organisation? NONE your honour, we check every
tenth (10), one hundredth (100) or one thousandth (1,000) image.

Can you vouch for the other nine (9), ninety (99), or nine hundred and
ninety nine (999)? No we do not check those.

If you do not follow this ANSI/AIIM MS 44-1988 [REVISED 1993] titled
"Recommended Practice for Quality Control of Image Scanners" in your
in-house operation or ask your vendor to commit to follow the standard in
the work they do for you forget about winning anything and do not collect
$200.00 in the real world game of Monopoly and just go to JAIL.

If you want to save yourself and your organisation some heartache then spend
$39.00 USD and order a copy of the ANSI/AIIM MS 44-1988 [REVISED 1993]
titled "Recommended Practice for Quality Control of Image Scanners" online @
http://www.techstreet.com/cgi-bin/detail?product_id=1275

This will be the best $39.00 of your company's money you ever spent.

Regards Laurie
