Joe Vidal asked "I have been ask to create a process for cleaning up our
shared drives. Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best approach
to tackle this daunting task."

This issue came up on the RM listserv in early October 2008, under the
subject heading 'Process Map or Flowchart'. One posting I found
particularly interesting--and one that seems applicable to your
query--was by Glen Sanderson on 6 October. I recommend it to you; you
will find it in the listserv archive in Week 1
(http://lists.ufl.edu/archives/recmgmt-l.html).

Good luck.

Fred
