While at UC Berkeley in 1992, they were having a big sale for employees, they were selling really nice microscopes in a box and selectric typewriters with extra balls, each for about $50. I still have one of each. Which was the better investment?

In 1984, I got an IBM PC Jr. with a tractor feed, daisy wheel printer.
It was the second edition "Jr.", with a real keyboard instead of the
original with Chiclet keys. It came with a color monitor, which
convinced me to go Big Blue instead of the monochrome Apple. As others
have mentioned, it had dual 5.25" floppy drives, one for app software
and one for data. I was the "first on my block" to ditch the typewriter.
